Botanical Knot transports us back to Liberty’s 1900s needlework department, which sold many designs in the style of multi-talented Arts and Crafts luminary, May Morris. Inspired by her distinctive aesthetic, this botanical trellis was hand-painted in gouache and delicately overlaid with pencil marks, echoing the intricacy of her embroidery stitching. Its flowers and foliage entwine through a lattice of interlocking knots, further honouring Morris’s work, which often featured Celtic-influenced knotwork motifs.
